where is the best store to buy top quality diamonds?
I am planning to pop the question to my future fiance, but would like to know where to buy top quality diamonds from. Is Blue Nile diamonds a reputable place (although you cant see the diamond up front)? Or a place like KAY'S, Helzberg Diamonds or other jewelry store's better. They all seem to provide certification from (GIA). I want to buy best quality for the dollar but need to know where from.

- tiffany's! :)
- do not go to a jewelry store, you will waste your money, find a diamond district or ask friend's that know jewellers personally for a recommendation always know jewelry is negotiable. ALWAYS!l
- any jewlerry store will be fine as long as you know about diamonds. if you know nothing, do to a store and have a salesperson explain diamond quality to you. you'll need to understand Carat, Color, Cut and Clarity. Canadian diamonds are most expensive diamonds, you can get less expensive high quality diamonds also, but it is hard to know about their origins (if you care about that stuff.) Any jewellerry store will be able to get you a high quality diamond but smaller, local shoppes will be able to get you a better price. My engagement ring cost my fiance 2500$, but we've seen very similar rings in larger chain shoppes marked up to 6500$!! Make sure you shop around, and learn to barter!
- my engagement ring is from robbins bros. i know that my fiance got a good deal on it from them so if you have one close to you id check it out.
- I would go to Shane Co or Jarred so you can pick the actual diamond out and see its quality!
- I love Shane co!!
- When in doubt, go to Tiffany's. You can never go wrong with that little blue box:)
- First, stay out of the mall. Try to find a diamond district or independent jeweler who will sell you diamonds individually and set them for you. Anyone who advertises on TV is funding their advertising with your purchase, so you will pay more. Tiffany's has great quality diamonds, but you also pay a lot for that little blue box. My fiance was able to get me a Tiffany quality ring for about a third the price you would pay at Tiffany. Try Blaze Diamond, at www.blazediamond.com. They did a beautiful job with my ring.
- Tiffanies is a rip off, you are paying for the brand. The mall stores have close to a 300% mark up and poor diamonds. HANDS DOWN the best places to go diamond shopping are whiteflash.com or my favorite goodoldgold.com. Don't be afraid to call them with your price range and wants. They will work with you. They are extremely reputable. You will get 10 times the diamond (quality wise) for your money over a mall store! If you'd like to educate yourself a bit first go to pricescope.com and check out the links and forums. Oh and blue nile is reputable but overpriced. If you don't feel comfortable buying online, usually a brick and mortar (like a little local jeweler) will still beat a mall store anyday!
